Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. • DSG Question

Hi guys and gals have been reading about problems with the DSG. I left VW just after they were lauched and i mainly get out of warranty stuff coming through my shed. I have a friend who is having the response problem with his TDI Jetta. I have Vag com as some of you know, is it a short soft code upgrade or a flash to rectify or is the fix released by VW yet?
    Cheers

so far what i've heard is that it's been rectified in the US but not in aus. i'm having that responsivness issue with my mk5 tdi but i dont really mind, just takes getting used to. the dsg is too much trouble for me tbh. just stick with the tried and true manual technology.

Yeah im hearing you there but i also admire the technology involved though. Same with the Multitronic on the Audi (faultytronic) great concept mate and works well and handles the power but had lots of teething problems in the beginning. Im a sucker for the tech mate. But i do agree with the manual call mate

no doubt the new auto shifting manual boxes are awsome technology but its just one of those personal things, the differences between autos and manuals is next to nothing these days.

maybe its time we all started writing in about this responsiveness issue. i'm guessing no fault codes show up on the vag com then?

          another DSG Qs !!!

          hi all !!!

do you really need to warm up ur GTi DSG each time before driving it? I test drove a demo GTi DSG early today and as i was making a left turn uphill at intersection, i accelerate(pretty aggresive) & i heard this weird noise(best describe in words-its like u didnt step on the clutch while changing gear in manual gearbox). could it be becoz its not warmed up? did anyone has come across such case?
ive been driving manual since i had my 1st car.

can anyone fill me in on this? much appreciate it.

DSG is definitely less responsive when cold......i have noticed in the mornings my reverse takes an eternity to kick in before actually moving the car...

As far as DSG/Manual goes..amazing technology...and hey someones got to by the guinea pig Mines done 94,000 in just under 3 years and i will certainly be keeping a close eye on signs of wear and pray to the god of mechatronic units that nothing major goes wrong

I actually found something yesterday which i didnt save the link to with a fairly detailed process of DSG service and maintenance, i think it was on club tdi, will have to find it again.

Wasnt there a recall on DSG cars about 12 months ago where they did a software upgrade? I cant remember now..
