Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • new Black TDI GT - How long has this been going on

I have had my Black TDI GT for 3 weeks. leather and DSG. It's a rocket ship. I keep finding reasons to take it for a drive. I have been driving a petrol Pajero for 10 years so this thing is a relevation. The engine sound is sometimes a little more noisy than normal and I wonder if different types of diesel causes this.
    Anyone got a view?
My "don't get a diesel" mate took it for a ride and loved it.

Also, one of the stats in the display appears to be average diesel consumption since the car was first driven. Does anyone know how to reset this?

Press and hold the OK button on your steering wheel until it resets.

Your trip computer should have 2 settings...

Setting 1 is current/recent trips (automatically resets if the car has been turned off for 2 hours or longer).
Setting 2 is all the info since last reset, although there is a maximum time, 99 hours or something??? Check the manual.

Toggle between Settings 1 and 2 by pressing the OK button.
(Should be available for time travelled, distance travelled, avg fuel consumption & avg speed).

      Cheers Liam

u guys are making me jealous with all this talk about the new tdi GT!!!

my mate has a heavily modified 1.9tdi golf with a exhaust system and it sounds much better than stock.look into it if you want to get away from that dookdook sound.

I think we'll need to start a separate forum for the GT Sport TDI at this rate!

Good to hear you are enjoying the car, and I don't think your mate will be the last anti diesel person to very quickly change their tune after driving one of these babies!

Congrats on the car.. cant wait till I get mine even more so now!!! On reset procedure i think it might be a case of RTFM!! And yeah maybe there should be a separate GT TDI section, seems to be alot on order at the moment and we'll want somewhere to rant and rave about it without making others too sick!

Little press on the TDI GT

Thanks for the help. I have reset the display.
I find it strange that there hasn't been any Australian test drive reviews on the TDI GT in the Australian press or on the internet.
                There some from the UK.
The launch has been very quiet. All talk is about the TSI 1.4.

There is a Diesel section below the MKV section in the sections list.

However as they are still a MKV platform car, a separate sub section is not really appropriate.

                  Glad you like them guys!

I went out very late last night and found that it is a very fast car in 6th gear on a long straight section of road.
