  • 4 Months for delivery

I've ordered a GTI back in Oct, with an expected delivery date at the end of Feb 08. All-up that will be 4 months between order and delivery.

Is this normal to have to wait so long

If so what communication should i expect from the stealer on the progress of my order

And to answer your last question. Not much.

We ordered ours 31 May and it was delivered 28 Sept 07.

Dealer kept me informed of key progress - ie. when the car was loaded and when the ship arrived in Melbourne.

2018 Golf GTI, Manual - gone.
2017 Golf 110tsi Trendline, manual (gone - gladly)

1978 Golf GLS; 1972 Superbug, (memories)

Placed a deposit in June took delivery in late December!

I think the dealer was hopeless, I like my V Dub it was worth the wait but from what I have read on this forum I will be shopping around next time for a dealer that can really "deliver."

yeah 4 months is normal and i think its acceptable if you have ordered a custom spec car. it does need to sit on a boat for 1 and a half months remember.

And yeah my dealer kept me informed of key moments in the progess of the vehicle.
          ie.
-when it was scheduled for build
-when it was scheduled to ship out. (at this point you should have access to the VIN number and can track it on the ship via their website)
-When the car had arrived at their workshop. at this point they arranged a time for the handover.

i think some people just get their knickers in a knot cos theyre a bit anxious about the whole ordeal.

I guess it's normal if you have extra options on your GTI. When I went to my dealer (Highway Auto in Springwood, same as yours or not?), my GTI was there at the yard, with the options I needed (leather, sunroof and DSG) and the color was right too (RS). So, no waiting period for me (a week for getting the right loan done). Anyway, from the factory to here would normally take four months.
Did you ask your dealer to show you all the GTI which will arrive earlier than that? maybe not have the same options as you want, but if you can find one similar, then no need to wait for that long. My dealer did this and because I can't wait for that long (within a month) he actually showed me all the one coming within this month and explained to me one by one with each option.

Ordered in September and around a 3 month wait on my Comfortline TDI to get right combination of DSG, Candy White and ESP.... hoping I get it before Xmas (this year ).

So 4 months for a GTI sounds about right.

Yip ordered through Highway Auto in Springwood.

They spoke about the GTIs en-route, but none were close to what i wanted so i'll stick with waiting 4 months for the following:
                3 door black
                6 speed manual
                Latter leather
                Sunroof
Sat Nav (fingers crossed for touch screen 30gig HDD version)

Was it because it's closer to where you are compare to the one in the city? Actually I went to VW in the city first, but no one wanted to entertain me. My salesman in Highway Auto was Dan and Robert, the sales manager who you must have met there, they are top guys and nice..

Seems yours will cost similar to mine with:
                  5dr RS (+1500)
                  DSG (+2300)
                  Leather
                  Sunroof
                  No Sat Nav (-3000)

If I wasn't in a hurry for mine, I would have opt the Bi-xenon as well, lots of threads here about how good the xenon is.
