runing in a new tdi

Hi everyone
Today at L'pool I pick up my new gt sport tdi, I'm getting various ideas on how to run in this car, I'm new to diesel cars of any type, so has any one got any theories or should I run in as recommended by the manual.

über can-o-worms you have opened but the best one I have ever read for TDI is here:

Basically, don't idle for long time, drive carefully until it's warmed up. Thrash it occasionally to clean out the soot and while it's new check the oil often as it's gonna burn a bit. I got 7000k's before I had to top up mine but they all vary.
