  • 2006 Jetta - Head unit power issue

    Hi all,
I'm hoping some one can provide some insight on a strange power issue I'm having with my head unit. The head unit I have is a Dynavin DVN-VW1, installed on a 2006 Jetta FSI Turbo.

The issue is that when I start the car the head unit remains off and I have to turn it on manually.

But if I start the car by turning the key to the accessory position for a few seconds first the head unit turns on automatically and stays on once the engine is running.

It has got me baffled, any ideas?

    Thanks,
    Tom

    Anyone?

I know the vw head units have a power drain issue with the early jetta's due to gateway, could it be the can gateway?

    clutching at straws here.

Maybe the head unit has a relay of some sort in it and the brief contact passing through the accessory position doesn't activate it in long enough for the radio to start?

A check on how it's wired to the ignition circuit might solve the problem.

I spoke to the distributor and he is going to send out a replacement unit, hopefully that will fix the problem.

If that doesn't solve it, a new contact switch on the back of the ignition barrel might.
