  • DSG - Gear change unsmooth

I have noticed between gear changes 3 to 4 when cold/warm its quite unsmooth to select the gear (bit of a hesitation).

    Any ideas?

I had a search but couldnt find anything specific.

    Thanks,

    Thanks,
Whats the mileage, DSG needs an oil and filter service every 60K.

Has it just started, have you had the car long and only just noticed??

Possibly a DSG reset might improve it. Google DSG reset procedure. I have a VCDS cable and could do it for you, for a small fee

its actually about ready for its 60k dsg service.. and only had the car a matter of weeks.

I plan to do the service but not sure if that alone would fix it but we'll see..

      thnx

Get the service done and ask the mechanic to do the reset at the same time.

Happy to help if you need it afterwards.

If its still under warranty make sure they fix it. My guess is that even after your service and reset that it will be exactly the same. Then they will probably tell you thats the nature of how the DSG works. Do not accept this, keep badgering them until they fix it. If its not under warranty, uh............

Good luck. I think you are about to realise the dream of owning a DSG outside of warranty... Get rid of it, or torch it and get the insurance money...

                  "bit of a hesitation"

                  How bad is it ?

                  Sounds pretty minor

Have you tried driving in S mode for a few days to force the take up points to change ?

yeah its only pretty mild, I 'could' live with it but its not how its meant to be... ie. not as smooth/perfect as the other gears.

I have tried sports mode a few times and its fine in that mode, it only happens in normal drive setting.

and Blitzen.. don't scare me man, well see after a service how it goes!!

You need to drive it in sport mode to make the DSG adapt to more aggressive take ups in the clutch packs

                      Or manual mode

Don't baby it it shifts will get lazy
