Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • 2.0 TDI Boost Gauge Install

    So after some weeks of planning and a whole lot of indecision, I have now got an answer to this question.

    The answer is this;

    Pod: OSIR Mono
    Gauge: Stuart Warner 0-30psi with Perfect Match LED backlight.

    Installation time: +/- 3 Hours with breaks.

    Degree of difficulty: 6 or 7 out of 10 (it is scary though with electrics)

    Result: I think it is as OEM as I have ever seen.

    And night time;

      Looks mint. However have you forgotten to put in the LED for the needle on your boost gauge? Hard to see it in the night shot as its not lit up like on your dash.

        It does not light up like the OEM ones sadly, however when in the car it is clearly visible.

        No option to put an LED on the needle itself...

            I may do a write up on it if I get the time.

            I found these useful;

              Looks great.

              I'm just about to install a Newsouth performance gauge and pod mount into mine...I'll be sure to take lots of pics although I'm very tool challenged so I'll be enlisting the help of a mate.

              Got them from the US when the dollar was at .92 !!

              It has full LED support and the pod plastic looks very OEM. Should look kinda like this when it's done....

                only goes up to 25psi?

                mikinoz - i take it you sacrified your drivers airvent for the gauge?

                  No the vent works as well, just you cannot turn it off anymore.

                  Air gets around the gauge itself and also through the holes in it.

                  I am not a fan of the pod on the steering column personally, slightly closer to line of sight, but looks a bit of an afterthought.

                  You would not use that gauge in picture, as it is a vacuum/boost - TDI do not pull a vacuum so you are better off getting a 0-30psi (as mine is 0-30 and hits the 30 on occasion) or greater one.
