hey fasti06, you probably haven't had a chance to test it out on the open road but once you do, can you let me know how it goes on highways?
still can't see how a 1.4L would be fun on long drives when the engine is sitting at 5000 all the way.

yes no worries mate, I will be giving her some WOT on the weekend no doubt. I am somewhat sceptical too but she comes on boost as soon as you put the foot on the throttle. Wife's car and she unlikely to ever even engage the turbocharger I reckon!

Sh*t, nav - 5000rpm in 6th would be about 200kph!!
At 100k's it's in the 2-3000 rpm range. And that's right smack in the middle of the supercharger/turbo 'handshake'. It's actually the nicest part of the rev range! Plant your clog and it just launches. Honest, given 15mins behind the wheel and you'll forget all about its capacity. It doesn't even sound like a tiny four pot.
BTW fasti06 - bloody lovely looking car! The UG looks great. Well done!
I noticed you've got the GT Sport - and the wheel still has the GT badge - I thought they'd killed it and replaced it with a plain, Jetta strip (in the new brochure pics). Thank goodness they didn't!

What....you don't go cruisin at 200kph?
Yeah I was more worried about the feel and sound of a tiny engine at high speed for long durations. Guess I underestimated the boot of the turbocharger. I'm upgrading to a Golf GT Sport from a 1.6L Nissan Pulsar...nuff said

I updated from a 2.0 litre SSS, and it's not been a disappointment at all.
To put your mind at rest, why not test drive one?
