  • 19"s Or 18"s On My 2006 Golf....that Is The Question

Hi, Can anyone suggest what wheel size and what off set that is needed (for no scrubbing) for my 2006 VW Golf Tdi? I prefer the larger rim for looks but the ride will probably suffer. I just can't seem to find a nice wheel to suit. Any ideas appreciated.
    Thanks, gibbo

19s are pushing it...as you said...ride will suffer.....
18s are the compromise and will look sweet

VW Helios 19x8.5. Best rim for the MKV. Theres a brand new set for sale on vortex for $3,500.

yeah 19s look damn good on the mk5. but then again 3500 is a bloody big pile of cash, then the ongoing cost of ridiculous tyres etc

oh and you wont be able to go wider than 8.5" (i think) and you'll need and offset around +50, maybe a bit more depending on wheel width. if you're going 18s get 225/40 tyres and if you're going 19s get 225/35 tyres

19's for sure... I've seen loads with 19's. They just fill the guards great. Gives it a tuff little stance too.

All depends on whether you want to compromise the ride. I went to 18s to keep mine a bit more comfortable. I wasnt out for looks so much.... Our roads down here are a bit harsh for 19s I think. In Tassie anyway...

I have 19's on my GTI with H&R springs and it rides only a little harsher than stock.

Problem i find that with 19's you really need to lower them quite drastically to avoid the 4wd look. With 18's you get away with the stock suspension ( GTI anyway) and it will still look the bizz.

I'm in the postion now because the my car doesn't look right even with the H&R's that im most likely going down the KW or Bilstein coilover path to make it look right and more importantly, ride properly.

If you drive your car hard on B roads get the 18's or if you just drive normally you probably live with 19's.
Of course it's not going to work if you use rusty bullets!

ye you need to lower it a decent amount not to get the 4wd look. def. agree with that. and always lower the back more than the front, thats my opinion. the engines weight tends to sag the front more than the back.
