  • Unbelievably squeaky suspension...

    Hi all,
I have recently traveled between Melbourne and Adelaide twice within 2 weeks (my mother passed away recently). The car performed absolutely flawlessly and made the stressful journeys very comfortable indeed.

The car has now done a bit over 9,000kms and the only issue I "hear" is the very noisy suspension when traveling at very slow speeds. i.e. noise when going over speed humps, braking and generally moving the car around in a car park is unbelievable (and very embarrassing as well). It sounds to me like I am suffering from the dry rubber bushes issue that has been reported previously.

I have read that ppl were having noisy suspension issues with the MKV's, and now I know what they have been going on about.

I will definitely be booking the car into the dealership service department very shortly to get this problem fixed.

Has anyone with this issue had any negative feedback/response from the dealerships re reporting noisy suspension.

NB: My oil consumption from new has been NIL, and I have worked the car quite hard.

    Regards,
    Geoff.

Jack it up and make sure they took the black chocks out of the suspension. It never ceases to amaze me how many cars leave the dealers with these still in.

Wouldn't that seriously reduce the suspension travel? and make the car quite dangerous?

Would it also increase the ride height of the car?

It would fell a little funny but I don't think it has a drastic affect on the ride height. Did you check it out?

Mate, i have had mine back at the dealer 4 times for the same problem as yours...its cost them over 10k in parts but it all got fixed at the end...apparently its a common problem with the gti's, r32 and jetta tfsi's.

Well, I booked my car in at Barloworld and they replaced the LHF & RHF Lower Control Arms + performed a wheel alignment.

It "mostly" fixed the squeaky noise issue, BUT not completely.

Now the squeakiness is returning in the front AND the rear.

Sign, time to take it back again...

                          Hi 7164,
Can you do me a favour, have a look at the service report and list what components they replaced.

Also, did this rectify the problem completely?

                          Thanks,
                          Geoff.
