  • Golf GT 1.4 Petrol Manual - Stutter woosh sound on accel from start in first?

    Hi guys,

Recenly I noticed that when I start off from standing, blip the throttle and begin to release the clutch I get a bit what sounds like a sputtering blow off valve. It only happens at low RPM's and only in first.

Any ideas? Is this perhaps a N75 failure? (All of the standard questions - warranty? Can I replace it myself, etc.)

    Thanks,
    David

i assume it's a new sound you haven't heard before?

not the sound of S/C engaging in anticipation of acceleration? when i blip the throttle (DSG) you can hear the s/c engage and turn over for a couple of seconds before switching off again.

It's more of an interruption of the normal SC sound... a whirrrr uggh rrrrrrrrr uggh rrrrrrrrrrrrrr where the 'uggg' is similar to a blow-off valve. Maybe I've got a leak somewhere... I don't suppose there's an easy way to check for this?

2nd and 3rd gear accel is solid. This only seems to happen when starting from stand-still with the clutch slipping on takeoff.

Could it possibly be the water pump...weve had a few 1.4 twinchargers recently with these issues.. vw recomends waterpump as this is what runs the s/c.common problem on the later golfs..
