Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. Hi there.

Intakes on MKV TDI's just make a sweet noise. They offer a bit better spool down low, good for car parks etc, but not much else, for the money anyway.

Exhausts again, make a but more noise, grunt, but no real power gain. Not like a downpipe on a turbo petrol car.

As for a gauge, I have a new south dash pod one I can sell you. Not many TDI owners ask for them, been looking for someone who wants it. You can change the LEDs in it to match the dash, never did.

    Make me an offer.

As for a tune, go for the one that offers the best local support. Bluefin is the cheapest at around $700 for a handheld device with email support only. a Custom tune will be around the 4 figure mark.

If you lower it, go with coilovers. Springs just make your car bouncier wear out your dampeners quicker. Weitec coils are made by KW and are excellent value for money.

    Hope that helps!

Where are you located? I have done the mods you are looking at (lowered suspension, boost gauge, tune) and it's all on a TDI (but the Jetta not the Golf). If you want, take a look and get some info.

If you get pulled over in a TDI, the cops must be having a VERY slow day. I guess if you make it look cool on the outside this will happen, but I've yet to have a copper even glance sideways at the GT, very much different to my last GT!!

Don't want to boast, but a 30psi gauge is no longer enough for me

Haha I actually did. I live between two towns, had to go to one more north (only 5mins from my house) for work and got pulled up on way home, was a slow day for them foir sure - just licence and rego check, although they got a big fuel dump when I took off because of it haha

Well, I just traded-in my TDI2.0 after 7 years of driving for a japs car. You will get the best motor and perhaps gearbox in this class, but as second hand car you will inherit heaps of small and big issues that will make your experience with VW bad.
get something made in Japan instead, then you will see if you still want VW in a couple of years..

really depends on each car for problems related to engine, some cars just have 'bad' engines from factory
And also depends on the way its been treated and looked after, there are heaps of factors that can be said to either avoid or purchase a VW. I came from 6 years of jap cars to VW and yet to have a single problem on my car with nearly 130xxx kms
