  • Fitted my coilovers

Fitted my FK High Sport coilovers over the weekend, love the firmer ride, but still have comfort for a daily.

And today after work i managed to install my rcd510 and bluetooth

Only problem i have is i cant find the gateway anywhere?

Am i looking in the right place?

This is under the dash, is it behind this relay board?

Btw its a 2006 manual tdi jetta.

After connecting everything i turn on the ignition but the rcd didnt work at all, will changing to to new gateway fix this or should it work anyway? Also when i turned on the ignitiom i noticed that the orange steering wheel light, the esp and tire pressure lights arent turning off?

Sorry for all the questions? Im a bit new to the vw scene

    Any suggestion?

You'll need to drive the car. At walking pace, full lock left, then full lock right, then accelerate beyond 20klm/h. The orange steering light should go out.

As for the gateway, you're in the right place. It's way up top, though. You'll need to keep digging. It's around the size of a packet of smokes. Still, the RCD shoud work regardless. the issue with the gateway is that it will wake up intermittantly, causing your battery to drain.

Looks great, where did you end up buying the coil overs from, as I'm seriously considering a set. Is the ride hard compared to stock?

      Cheers

I ordered my set from esc tuning, its slightly harder which u would expect, but still very comfy

As for my rcd problem i checked the fuse for the stereo under the bonnet only to find that there is no fuse, is this normal? How did the rcd300 work without it??

The fuse is probably in the end of the dash panel, inside the driver's door — just pull the trim off.

Ill check it out, in the manual it says it should be under the bonnet in position f18

Sorry to hijack your thread, my RCD500 has a fuse on the rear of the unit itself, I don't know if that helps.

Ive found fixed the fuse problem, rcd is sort of working now, ive changed the gateway, but i cant insert cd's it just wont take them, it cuts out every now n then and makes a humming noise which seems to get louder with the accelerator, must be a bad connection somewhere, it also sounds like its changing cd's when its off, even my windows are playing up, if i use the remote to open or close all of them, then now seem to do so one at a time in a random order lol i also fitted a genuine bluetooth kit which doesnt seem to appear on the unit, but ive heard it needs to be programed in.

Thanks for the compliments, ive got a few more plans
As for rims id like to go with something along the lines of

But i need to restock the bank account first

Any suggestions for my prob are much appreciated

                    Thanks in advance
