  • Vacuum hose to throttle body replacement - help!

i changed the oil in my car yesterday and noticed a hissing sound when i had finished and started the engine.
i looked around and noticed the vacuum hose to the throttle body had touched a hotter part of the engine and melted on.

no wonder my car has had rough idles lately..

does anyone know the internal diameter of that hose for replacement? external diameter is 1.5cm and around 60cm long.
do they sell them at supercheap or autobarn or do i have to get from dealer?

also, how do i remove the hose clamps, they don't look like a normal one where i can clip or screw off. They also don't look reusable?

    thanks

i can only see the ones pointing to links.
can someone please point me in the right direction.

15mm Outside diameter sounds like 8mm inside diameter

Factory Hose clamps sounds like crimp on type - they are typically one use.
Take a pair of pliers to the square block and twist pull and bend. You will destroy the clamp but you can always use a normal srew type hose clamp (get the Tridon Brand stainless Steel one from Bunnings in the Gardening/Irrigation section where the Clear PVC tubing is - not the hose clamps from Plumbing section as they are more expensive!)

      Thanks Gigitt!

Just fixed it today. Easier than i thought.
Like you said, i just used pliers and destroyed the old clamps to remove them.
Went to supercheap auto and bought the vacuum hose 8mm inside diameter and it fitted like a charm. just as original.
While i was there also picked up a pair of screw clamps.
all up less than $10 and done in 5mins!!

Earlier in the day i called VW parts. They didn't know the part i was talking about (i think they were lying) and asked me to come in to get the car checked out. They also wanted to do a full analysis on vacuum leak and charge me an arm and a leg. all i wanted was a hose as i knew where it was leaking from... lol
