Yakking about cars with mates, as you do. They're all impressed with the DSG box, especially the throttle blip downchanges

Anyway, the topic got around to comparisons with other cars. We all know the GTI is a hot hatch, no questions (hell it was the original!). But does that mean the Jetta TFSI is a "sports sedan"?

I'm on the fence about it. Clearly stuff like the M5, M3 etc are true sports sedans, no questions. But I don't know if the Jetta TFSI is "enough" to make it the labl stick.

Just wondering what others' thoughts are. I don't care what the label is, I love it all the same

I think the Jetta TFSI isn't powerful enough to be a sports sedan when u compare it to the likes of M3 & M5... but at the same time it doesn't cost nearly as much as them.

Interesting point, what constitutes a sports sedan? I mean there's quite a few sedans out there with more power than the Jetta but they're labelled family sedans.

The GTI on the other hand is on par with the rest of the 'hot-hatch' offering out there and is pretty on par for power and handling as a great total package.

The Jetta's always been seen as a Golf with a boot. Maybe that's it's rightful place? the GTI's slightly fatter and softer brother.... but by no means less fun

The TFSI....hmmm.... warmer than ur average?
btw, does the Jetta DSG blip the throttle on downshifts as well?

That may be part of the reason ... price. Your typical sports sedans are quite pricey.

Yup, when in manual or sport mode. Love it 3rd back 2nd and then 2nd back to 1st and nail the sucker out of the corner. Yeeehar
