mkv gti with a tune 2+ level....what oil catch system/PCV replacement ? forge VS etc.

hi everyone.

I have a mkv gti , intend to put a dump pipe and stage 2 or equivilent tune on her - otherwise leave the car stock.

just hit 90,000kms , surely the standard PCV is in a shonk condition.

What are peoples thoughts / reviews on the various PCV replacement systems out there ?

There is mostly kits like the below

Or there is a "ultimate pcc replacement kit" that I cant find atm lol , its expensive and replaces both the front and rear system into one circuit directly to a catch can. Looks nice. (if anyone knows it !)

Are both designs reputable ? Anyone have any issues ?

You can delete the PCV valve entirely which eliminates the possibility of it seeing boost pressure using something like the BSH Bulletproof PCV Revamp S1 [FSI-PCV-S1] - $119.00 : Dub Ad·dic·tion [duhb uh-dik-shuhn]

Or Greg at carformance sells the 42DD catch can kits which are very popular and varified for local fitments. Price isnt that much difference once you factor in shipping from the US. That particular forge kit doesnt bolt up directly to our cars due to the mounting location.

thanks for those links - can i ask the logic behind the block off plate ? IE what exactly blocking off does in the PCV vacuum circuit ? And its pros / cons.

All it does is send all PCV gasses out via the rear PCV port in the valve cover. The gasses are still free to circulate through to the intake tract just not directly into the intake manifold anymore. If you install a catch can it does exactly the same thing just with a catch can in-line with it.

I dont have a photo of it but on the back of the PCV plates there is a channel that connects the two far left ports.

Thanks for that. Ive come off NA cars and alittle different in theory to understand.

for a road car.....would the block off be noticeable emissions wise ? I gather it dumps the oil vapour literally back into the down pipe ?

no not into the downpipe. PCV gasses are routed out the rear of the valve cover and back into the intake tract near the turbo the same way it does with the stock PCV system when the car is under boost.
