  • Anyone runing H&R Cup Kits???

    Hi,

I cannot seem to find anyone with feedback on H&R cup kits in Australia (not interested in US reviews, their roads are too good).

I currently run ZF Sachs performance coilovers on my Mk V Jetta with 18" visions and Pirelli P Zeros. The Sachs are set up for a 40 mm drop (was 50 mm about 3 months ago)

As am nudging 50 yo I am starting to lean to towards a better ride quality (as far as coil overs go ZF Sachs are pretty good in this department but I am sure other solutions can be a lot better)

However at the same time I do not want to loose the sports look of the car.

I have read James White's detailed reviews on another aussie forum (very informative, even for me - an old engineer).. Well done James.

However James seems to have not touched on the H&R cup kit range (sports, comforts each with at least two drop heights). Based on one review I was nearly sold on Koni FSD + neuspeed sports springs but I now have had one suspension tech (who is well regarded and who will not be named) warn me off both of these (I tend to listen to this guy).

So I thinking about a change and I want to know if anyone has had any experience with the H&R cup kit range (good or bad)

I have the H&R Cup Kit in a MK2 and I would say it's rebound is a touch too high.

Why not go a set of KW Street Comforts coilovers? They are the softest you can go with KW and still have the same drop range as the whole range, from V1 to Clubsport.

Out of interest (no personal investment on Konis) what were the reasons the tech gave for disliking the FSDs?

There were many problems early in the Koni FSD release. They were all blowing seals and failing after only very little use.

I believe since then a design flaw has been rectified but its one of those "once bitten, twice shy" situations for most. Speak to your local Koni distributor about the issue. They will have more up to date information.
