  • Rear brake size options

The rear rotors and pads need replacing on our 2.0 fsi sportline and been have quoted $440 from mechanic which I thought was a lot until I went to Bursons and was told $176 for bendix pads and $190 ea for dba rotors.
I have been looking at buying from overseas and even with shipping is still cheaper -about $240 total with pbr ultimate pads(ecstuning)
I am having trouble finding the disk rotor size, I have measured it to be 250mm but have not found anything this size.
The DBA Australia website saying it is 285.6mm.
Anyone had similar experience finding rear rotors for this size?

For non-GTI models, the rear brake discs should be 255 mm (except for North America and Japan = 260 mm).

Also, for the GT models, there was a gradual switch to 255 mm from the end of 2006.

For the GTI (and GT models prior to that) the rears are 286 mm.

Yes just had a remeasure and you are correct, they are 255mm.

Not to be a bell end, but aussie GT's never had GTI rear brakes (286mm). I went to GTI rear and had to get new calipers as well as rotors.

Indeed - I've only just realised that Australia actually didn't get the GT until 2007.

Just thought I'd mention it as it might clear any confusion if you're buying parts overseas.

I bought the same for my 2008 GT as follows:

            Rear Discs
Pagid Volkswagen | Euro Car Parts UK

            Rear Pads
Pagid Volkswagen | Euro Car Parts UK

Both are Pagid an OEM supplier to VW.

I dealt with Ashish Nandal (ashish.nandal@eurocarparts.com) and the process was seamless. Don't forget a rear caliper tool though!

            cheers,

Ended up ordering from ECS $48us ea for the rotors $78 (i think) for PBR ultimate pads + $107us delivery.
Can you remember how much you paid for delivery from the UK?
Does anyone in Melbourne have a caliper rewind tool I can rent or borrow?
