Took delivery in Perth of my new Jetta (build appears Aug 07 on compliance tag) - but that's the tyranny of distance

Anyhow - danged if i can get the multi function display to open the programme to set unlocking protocol, delay times etc. Is there a trick i am missing here?

    Congrats on your car!
    What's your first impressions?

My jetta should be arriving any day now as well, it probably came on the same ship. I can barely stand the anticipation. Which dealership did you get yours from?

Is it possible to set those functions from the car itself? I thought we had to get the dealer to put those features on.

beejay, if your screen in the dash is half height (i.e. LCD bottom half, top half some warning lights) then you can't. You either need the dealer to do it or a vag-com programmer.

Congrats on the purchase beejay and welcome to the site! There' a difference between the MFD's. You need to suss out first which one you have (split or full disply)?

Thanks all. Dealer confirmed that with half height display, driver programming is not available. (Bummer). I notice another thread re the dipping left hand mirror and my dealer confirms that the selector must be left in the left position (not centre) for the mirror to dip when reverse selected. However it appears not to "un dip" once drive is engaged - has anyone else this issue?

First ... congrats on your new car and welcome to the forum. Second ... can those who have not updated their details please put locations in ... it helps others to either offer help or recommend someone close who can help.

            Cheers,
            Dave

Here is how to setup mirror dipping.

With engine on (or ign on), mirror control in L, transmission in N or P. Set the mirror to your normal position for driving.

Put transmission in R, use the control to set the mirror in the position where you would like it to dip to.

Then when you put the transmission in D (etc) and drive forwards at more than x km/h (x = around 10) the mirror will return to normal position.

Sometimes if you go D - R - D - R or similar a bit too much it gets lost and stays dipped. In this case just manually adjust the mirror back to normal while in D. It will still remember the dipped position.

(Note: This is my experience with MY07 Jetta DSG mirror dipping - YMMV)

According to my dealer the MY08 build applies to everything built from July 2007.

Weird I know but I believe them because they told me when I could have had a MY07 car straight away or waited for a new build MY08. Also the colour I wanted was no longer available in MY08 and was sold out in MY07.

I decided to wait for a MY08 built in '07 build so hoping to get it soon.

Good choice. There is another thread here somewhere that describes the differences between MY08 and MY07. Of interest to me at least, the new MY08 all have FULL display and MP3 compatible CD player.

I get so many comments on what a great car the Jetta is. If only we didn't have water restrictions so I could keep the damn thing clean!!!
