Hot weather boost and power

We have had a bit of hot weather in Adelaide this year but not much. This week's been a bit hotter. I notice when it's hotter the car doesn't seem to boost up as hard. I had my tune first done in winter and I could initially easily spin the boots in second, but recently this doesn't happen as readily.

I've read many a time about the reasons why heat affects a turbo motor much more than NA. Do turbo owners experience a noticeable drop-off in boost over summer? Would like to hear people's thoughts and (if any) easy remedies.

The only way you're going to improve it over summer is to improve cooling of the charge air. Larger intercooler, water sprayer onto the intercooler etc.

When the MDI external temp sensor reads over 25 celcius there's a noticeable drop in power, and when it's over 32 it's very noticeable.

ECS sell the Audi S3 Intercooler which may or may not work on your Mk5 GTI. It does work on the Mk6 GTI and can be adapted to fit on my car (I'm tempted).

just take it easy.. the added stress to the motor/turbo is quite significant in hot weather.

if you want the spray option, Pivot sell an rpm/time based intercooler spray controller. its designed for japanese cars (eg. lancer evo with standard intercooler spray), so you'd need to retrofit a washer motor and nozzle to it.
