  • Electric window playing up? Jetta V

I wanted to raise the drivers window today via one touch, but it went up about 1/3 and then came down a few cms. Tried to raise it again and it did the same thing. Then I tried something different - raised the switch for a second and then took finger off and it stayed where it was...."up" finger off - it stayed, "up" - finger off. I had to raise it in short bursts until it got to the top. It will come down via one touch but it doesn't seem to want to go up via one touch. Any suggestions apart from getting the dealer to check it?

        Get it replaced

I had the same problem with the rear drivers side window, I had the motor replaced six months ago and have had no problems since.

          Dealer response to window problem

I was going past so dropped into the dealer yesterday and they said it shouldn't happen. The motor is fine but the sensors are sensing that something is restricting the window. It is a feature that activates if say a child puts their hand out of or in through the window as the glass is going up so the hand or anything else wont be jammed. It is covered by warranty, so the car is booked in Friday week to be looked at and I have been advised not to use the window in the mean time, just in case there is something that is caught within the door that may cause further damage. So to all you others having this problem, I suggest you get your car booked in.

The dealer changed the driver's door window motor on our GTI which fixed the problem. It would reverse randomly when trying to put it up, annoyingly so with heavy rain sometimes.

Sounds exactly what I went through before they finally replaced the motor and the problem went away, I suspect the sensors may be part of the motor.

              good luck

                Window update

Spice .....as in spice red ...went to see the dealer yesterday. You wouldn't believe it. They say the electric window worked ok for them ..... grrrr. But they said they took off the lining and skin and cleaned all the runners etc and tested it.
The car has done 5500klm so I got them to do an early oil change and a wheel rotation and balance instead of waiting for 7500. ...well that's it. I'll see how the window goes.

They did the same thing for me twice before they admitted that the door motor had been throwing codes randomly and changed the motor.
My passenger side front window is now starting to do the random reverse thing...

I still have same noises with my drivers side window.
As of recently, when going up, just about at the end it makes few clunk clunk noises before fully shut.
It is very same window dealer said to wait until it brakes down..... but i think I am not going to. Yet another trip to a dealer for inspection....
Will book it in for check up when I get some spare time ...

My driver's side rear window has started making noises...sort of a squeaking type of sound. Anyone else experience anything similar?
