  • DSG Paddle Steering Wheel Retrofit in Sydney

    Howdy Dubbers,

I "impulse bought" a MkV DSG paddle steering wheel off ebay about 4 months ago (from memory about $180 incl shipping from Germany, without airbag), and since then I haven't really had time to get it around to getting it installed. So, as my DIY skills are useless, is there anyone in Sydney who can install it using the current airbag?

    Cheers.

Fair enough, I suppose it's only 3000 km until my next service, so I may as well be patient and get it fitted then.

Is your steering wheel the same as the one you bought with paddles?
You Air Bags may or may not fit.

I know the GTI wheel with paddles I bought, the air bag is completely differnet shape than the original wheel. (both wheels are new square button multifucnction style) - and will not swap over.
I was lucky I got the airbag with the GTI wheel or else I would have been stuffed.

I've checked the wheel and the airbag is the same shape. I didn't get a GTI wheel, just a normal (round-bottom) MkV style wheel with paddles, similar to those found in the MkV Golf GT Sport.

when I did mine, the Jetta had the normal round multifunction steering wheel without paddles.
The R32 flat bottom wheel with paddles fit perfectly without any changes to the air bag

Depends... Mine did not need coding as the paddles worked - but we used VCDS anyway to check the settings and turn on the bit.
