  • electric window button rubber wearing off

The rubber on my golf mkv 2006 model's electric window buttons are wearing off. Does anyone know where to source replacement buttons without the whole door handle? Since this is happening both front and rear, left and right, I'd rather not fork out for four door handles.

Mine happened just before warranty ended, so I got them replaced free. When peeling off, looked more like painted plastic than rubber.

I believe that there is a recall on them. You might be able to get them replaced even if your car is no longer under warranty. Another forum member had his replaced for free even though his car's warranty had already run out.

I already asked at the garage, and they said it was normal wear and tear. Would you happen to know any recall reference number?

I'll have to ask my friend who had it done. Have you tried another dealer?

Hard to believe these were recalled when recalls are only for safety issues....

I got some replacements off ebay, I'm happy with them.

I'm probably too late, but I bought a set of all switches from

Chrome Passenger Door Window Switch - Golf MK5 - Oriental Parts

This is the individual window switch, but there are sets available.

I haven't been able to install them yet because I need new interior door pulls.

There would not have been a recall, as such. Besides, VW never uses that word

I do believe there was a tech bulletin out on them, stating they could be replaced under certain criteria.
