Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

      I think it was one of our members on this forum who made up one with the
      rubber matting that has the circles which is used for commercial flooring,
      It looked good from the pic.

          From my research, nothing to import was viable.

          Some points made on MKV

              I made it, costed it up and would sell them for $85 + freight if I were making one to sell.

              You can probably get away with spending $50-60 if you made it yourself. Rubber from Clarkes.

                i guess it all depends on how much the dealers charge for them. has anyone that hasnt actually gotten one with their car tried to buy one and know how much they charge for them locally?

                what are we trying to protect anyways? I thought the carpet was there to protect the boot!

                    I thought about this and decided against it, but;

                    If you cut a strip 35mm wide and straight, you could affix it vertically around the outside edge with vulcanizer. Was too much hassle and I have had no trouble.

                      i might just cut it slightly too wide, fold the sides up and then use offcuts to hold the corners together and fix it all together with industrial staples or something of the like.

                        well yes it is... but the carpet cant be wiped down with a cloth to look like new everytime you chuck your dirty shoes or wetsuit or something into the boot
