  • Jetta Engine Code ID

Can anyone advise if the engine in my late 08 Jetta 2.0 TSI with engine code 'BWA' is an EA888 series engine, or something else.

According to this Wikepedia site, List of Volkswagen Group petrol engines - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia which I have no reason to doubt, the EA888 series engine has chain driven OHCs and not a toothed belt.
Also, the Wikepedia site is for US engines so am not sure if the codes are relevant to Australian engines.

If it is the EA888 engine it means I won't have to worry about having the timing belt replaced when it would be due.

Any info would be helpful thanx....

a BWA is an earlier TFSI not TSI and is based on the EA113 series I believe.
It has a timing belt. Not a chain
