  • Help with DSG pleeease.

    Guys,

    I have 3 questions.

    1) Today, while driving in 5th gear i arrived at the lights and accidently down shifted twice to 2nd and saw the tacho needle swing to 7000rpm. I thought the DSG box has built in electronics to not let you OVER REV the motor - is this true??

    2) Is it okay to up shift or down shift quickly like on a formula 1 car - example shift from 2nd to 4th and you go CLICK CLICK or the same for down shifting? Is this okay as long as you don't over rev the engine?

    3) In SPORTS mode, i find that 3rd gear will rev almost to red line before goining into 4th....is this normal?? same for you guys or is my box stuffed??

    thanks in advance

    hey Uomo
can't help much here but from my understanding, sport mode is suppose to do that. Some one told me once 1 and 2 gear does't rev to redline because it is limited by comp, as wheel spining reason.

      1. It will go over redline if you really want it to, including shifting from 5th to 2nd

      2. you can shift as quick as you like but it can only change gears as quick as is physically possible, even with the DSG setup.

      3. the shift points in S mode are too high for my liking, I never use it although it works better on winding roads when, it keeps the revs up although you dont really need that with that amount of torque on offer, not much good around town though.

Another thing with DSG, it learns your driving patterns (in D) and sometimes that can be annoying, you can reset the shift points by turning the car on and holding down the accelerator for 10 seconds then turn the engine over.
