Has anyone tried Dunlop Fast Responce or SP Sport LM 703 or Dunlop SP Sport Maxx TT on a Golf GTI mk 5? Would love to hear your findings on wet and dry performance as well as wear. My Conti's are about due for replacement and my brother inlaw works for Beaurepairs so can get a decent price on Dunlops.

Dunlop Tyres on GTI mk5

The Sport Maxx TT and GT are Dunlop's flagship road tyres, and would easily perform the best of the three in terms of performance. As with all such tyres, comfort, noise or wear aren't their main focus, but still provide a compromise that's more than acceptable to many drivers.
The next two are aimed at passenger vehicles, and I reckon they focus on different aspects depending on the region.
- I assume the FastResponse was developed at their European R&D centre, so it would try to aim for a good balance of handling stability, grip, comfort and wear.
- I'm guessing the LeMans was developed at their Japanese R&D centre, so it would probably be the most comfortable and quietest of the three, but maybe not as responsive.
Really depends on what you want from a tyre.

I drive with the SP Sports...though I'm really not happy with them. In the dry they're pretty good, less screech than my old continentals, but less leeway for anything adventurous.
I aquaplaned with them up a mountain a few weeks after buying them, coming out of a corner and fish tailing for about 10 meters.
They don't feel like the best all rounder to me. Never had these issues with the old tyres, but I guess it all depends on your driving style.
If you plan on taking it easy then they are a very comfortable tyre. Also, the wear is minimal too.I look at my V-Dub, and all I can think is....."Dat Ass....."
