  • 2nd generation DSG

Hi, not sure why my post on this topic was deleted yesterday, but here goes again.

Does anyone know when the next generation (7-speed dry clutch) DSG will be available in Australia, and which models will feature it?

nope, there was a an official VW press release.

From memory, it's a dry clutch system and max kw is 120. So, it won't go in the GTI.

From pocking around I've found the german website tends to show the new models first, but I don't speak german. VW UK is usualy quite quick behind Germany, and their site is in english to boot! (fancy that).

While it's been announced, the UK MY08 Golf builds do not have the 7 speed DSG. Perhaps an MY08.5 upgrade?

On a slightly different topic, why would the DSG run so hot? The only way for there to be heat in the componentry is friction, and other than when changing gears, why would there be any great amount of friction?
