  • Soft Touch trim wearing thin..

    Guys,

I've got a 6month old GTI and i can see that in some high traffic areas the soft touch interior trim has worn around the edges showing the black base paint only a tiny tiny area but i'm not happy tho...you would think it should last longer than 6months.

Have any of you got interior trim replaces due to 'QUICK' wear and tear?

    Trim wear

    Hi,

I have a MKIV and I have the same issues.

I think everyone has issues with the "soft touch" trim. The guys in the MKIV forum have discussed this at length. If you or anyone can come up with a fix that doesn't involve sanding it all off and leaving the base plastic, you will be Mr Popular.

I reckon you would be lucky to get it replaced under warranty. Anything that involves wear like that is tough to get them cover Worth trying though, ive got same issue but mine is almost 2 and half years old, not 6 months.

Touch wood, mine is unaffected though my old Mk4 was in here last week and the owners have damaged the drivers side on badly.
The gf put some smelly stuff in a tissue near the console in the Mk5 and that lifted the soft coating near the storage thing.

I had a MK4 golf before the GTI - SAME PROBLEM, i remember distinctively that Armour All lifted all the black soft touch off the ash tray cover under the radio!
