  • Seconf Car required - Golf 4 or 5 - Petrol or TDI - Recommendations?

    Hi,

I'm looking for a second car for running around town and have in mind a Golf 4 or 5. I have a current model Polo 77 TSI which I find great, but don't want to spend $25k. I'm thinking something up to $15K, but would much prefer to keep below $10K.

I'm a bit of a car tragic so would prefer something with good dynamics, brakes etc and as many airbags as I can get, but I suspect anything in the Golf 4/5 range will be safe enough for me.

Interested in people's experiences and recommendation between diesel and petrol models.

    Thanks for any advice.

I would go the mk5 either 1.9tdi or 2.0fsi both can be had for less then 15k, the engines, gearboxes and saftey is totally worth the extra 5k over the mk4. The mk4 engine selection (bar the gti) is quite dissapointing, even the top of the line 2.0sports had only 85kw :l
