Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Headlight cleaning polishing ...

Tried the search feature, no luck (but I know I've read about this topic somewhere).

How do I remove blemishes from the front of my headlights?

    Cheers ladies and gents

I am sure i have created a thread about this in the past. I think the popular response was a plastic polish from most auto retail shops (i.e super cheap) i haven't tried one yet but my head lights are looking more and more yellow every day :|

In my previous car i had foggy head lights and i ended up sanding them back with very lite grit sandpaper, water and buffed them with plastic polish it worked but took a lot of hard work particularly with the buffing part, they ended up foggy again in another 12 months :|

if you go to the bodywork & detailing section of the forum & search in that forum for headlight, there are at least 3 threads on the subject.

you can buy a kit. The trick is to use the UV stable coating for a long lasting repair.

The Mothers Plastic Polish has UV protection for the headlights. I'm using it and it works really well even just applied by hand using polishing cloth.
