Did you line everything up and fit the screws into the right spots? From memory, I don't think I put one where it's showing in that pic but it still lined up properly.

Did you just buy the centre part that bolts up and not the whole two piece front lip?
I have both parts, but when i tried to put it with the whole front valance, none of the clips lined up to my bumper at all...
So i tried to just put the lip instead and it doesnt fit..
I'm pretty sure the only difference between the GTI and GT front lower valances, is that the GTI one has a few extra slots for the lip to clip into. However, if you refer to Poyta's build thread which you mentioned, you will find that the slots can easily be made with a stanley knife.

That's strange. When I did mine, the valance did take a fair bit of force to line up but in the end, it managed to snap on.
That was what i thought, but this didnt seem the case, the lip itself fits as you see it there (with that much hanging on both sides).
And the valance itself had the oposite slots for the bumper, like every second as opposed to every first.
Id take a photo of the valance that came with it, but that doesnt line up at all with my bumper clips...
pashn8 says its the oem gti valance and lip ? (he got it from robr32)

looked at the valance. the part number is 1K0805903D
however as I said. I lined up my valance and the gti one and each clip was in between. ie alternating. not even close to the same ??
odd, my Gti lip fit no worries on my GT front front bar, I had to cut slots into the GT bar for the lip to slide into but once the tabs from the GTi lip went into those new cut holes the lip just slipped into place, not forcing or snapping what so ever.
Send me a PM with your personal email and I'll send you a whole bunch of photos I took during the process.

^^ This!
I had to do a little maneuvring though, try loosening off all the screws so that there is some adjustment in the lip and you'll be able to line it up fine. When I first did it, I started one end then ended up similar to what you show in the pic. By loosening it off I could then centre it and it was aligned on each end.
Or have you tried that already and are totally out of ideas?

I have tried and as I said. it's fit like this on both sides. so it's long on each side :0

bumping this, ive just left it hanging off the edges, but would really like to know:
A. why just the lip doesnt fit in my valance.
B. why the whole valance and lip i bought together, doesnt align with my clips on the bumper
