  • Auxiliary Cooling Pump

    Hi All

My car had it's 60K service done last Friday. Since I've had the car back, I can no longer hear the auxiliary cooling pump running after engine shut off. I think it cools the turbo? I used to always hear it run on after turning the engine off after a drive, but now silence.

Could VW have somehow accidently left the pump disconnected, or has there been ECU upgrade which doen't switch the pump on as often? I do not get any engine light on the dash. Would the ECU pick this up as a fault code if it wasn't working correctly?

Any advice appreciated as I don't want to damage the turbo. I think I might take it back for assessment?

    Thanks.

As I've mentioned to others previously, your dealer will not carry out any software updates without you knowing about it.

I can't see why they would disconnect the pump (Do these actually have one? Been a while since I've worked on one!) to carry out a 60K service.

On later cars (Golf VI, etc), a fault will be logged if the auxillary water pump fails.
