Another Jetta convert

Gidday you lot. My first experience with the world of VW has began. A late starter for sure but after collecting my Silver 06 compliance 07 model 2.0 FSI DSG with leather, last December, I am tickled pink with it's comfort and performance. The finish is superior than similar priced vehicles and has an air of luxury about it while the get up and go factor was exactly what I was seeking. Pity I did not go for the 18" wheels but hey, I am a happy chappy. A few minor niggles have surfaced like the auto head lights have a mind of their own and on occassion, the heater remains 'on' when in the 'off' mode. I have now covered 13,500k and love it, love it, love it! My only reservation is that when asked to overtake or simply squirt from say 100 to 140 + (bit of a hoon I be) I find the steering very light and not confidence inspiring. Perhaps I am being over critical here, maybe I am missing something? Driving within speed limits is fine and I rather enjoy the feel of the smooth electronic steering. If I drive passively (100kph) I can turn out 6.7 litre per 100k which is brilliant. If I hit the twisty mountain roads (Brown or Clyde).... well that's another result where consumption is replaced by big grins. Anyway, great to join the family and remember to give a wave on the roads.

Hi All,

I'm new to the VW club also and after reading lots of threads decided to share my VW experience.
Picked up a Jetta TDI manual in Oct 2006 and cannot be happier.
I am absolutely amazed at the fuel economy. A recent interstate trip with the wife where we clocked over the 24,000 km mark and returned 4.7 l/100 on a round trip of 1,600km.

Having read a few threads where people have some issues I can say, touch wood, we have had none what so ever.

Anyway cheers and I look forward to reading more on this wonderful site!
