    Hey fellas....

    Latest pics of my Pirelli..

    It's stage 3 now (APR GT2871R), so around 400hp...

Gone is the engine cover so I had to bling up the engine bay..... And along with that came some R spec tyres and some really pretty DEFI gauges for boost and oil temp....

Sadly the project is now about done.

Surprisingly better than when it had the smaller turbo... The K04's power came in lower in the RPM range which meant massive wheelspin in the first 3 gears.. The GT2871 seems to come in after the tyres have already hooked in fairly well...

Then again I'm also running super sticky R spec tyres now, which no doubt help somewhat.

The major difference between the Stage 3 and the K04 is just how quickly the engine spins up after it hits 4000rpm. It's absolutely crazy, almost like a bike engine.. The tuned K04 was brutal, the GT2871 challenges your grip on reality!....

I'm getting used to it now, but the first time it hit full song it was quite a shock. You really gotta hold on!

          Sounds crazy!

Just read your build thread and it's giving me some ideas for when I get the Scirocco next year.. pretty much the same engine i believe?

Yes I believe so, but it doesn't really matter - the newer TSI's have some great stuff (arguably better) available for them too.

Very first thing you do (after the tune of course) HAS to be the coilovers. My favourite mod by far.

Yeah definitely keen on coilovers, a friend just added them to his mkv R32, wow.

              Enjoy the horses!

Engine bay does look schmick. What catch can are you using and what type of plumbing? Are you willing to sell your old engine cover?

It's a forge catch can. Not sure how effective it will be (we will see), but it's a good way to make sure you don't get any boost leaks from the PCV... Frankly I find it hard to believe they all dont leak - the pcv hose is pretty loose and wobbly from factory.

Plumbing to the catch can was supplied incorrectly (wrong lengths and wrong mounting hardware #$#@%!), so I had to fashion it myself with some silicon hoses sourced locally as well as (luckily) some spare brackets I had from a recent motorcycle rebuild project. It fits in beautifully next to the battery by using the trim bolts near the headlights.

The red plumbing is simply new silicone from forge. The Pirelli/Stage3 has a diverter valve at the front which leads back to the intake... Since the engine bay looks so 'industrial' when you go stage 3, I thought I'd pretty it up a little with some colour.. Same deal with the coilpacks and harness (both off an Audi)...

Some really nice engine bay porn there. Im a massive fan of the more 'industrial' and 'purposeful' engine bays

Which tyres are they mate? Do you have any issues with traction?

Dyno= plenty!... Well I dunno I've not dynoed.. But it feels like a quadzillion hp.

Tyres are Yokohama Advan A050M (R spec).

LSD yeah thinking about it... I have a DSG which complicates the job a little though...
