Looking at buying a gt sports diesel but dont like the t-bar. Has anybody tried changing it for the one out of a gti?

It's one thing I'm not too keen on either - it's on my list of 'to dos'.
It's supposed to be pretty straightforward - you can find clues either on this forum or Golfmkv.com. And the best price and range seems to be at http://www.tmtuning.com/vw/

I'm after a 30th Anniversary boot with a standard R32/GTI knob (I'm not that keen on the whole golf ball thing) which I know is unobtainable...
