What tyres are on your STOCK GTI's?

I dunno if i got jibbed but on my GTI it's got Dunlop 17" Sports tyres not the Continentals that is referred to in every review i've read.

DO any of you also have the Dunlops? Or, did the my dealer do a swap to use the Conti's maybe on his own ride???

Yep, Dunlop Sport 01a here. First batch 3dr.

They are fine, less road noise than the Contis, I think, and grip is similar.

Mine came with Bridgetstone RE050s. Bridgestones were good. They had good hook up in the wet from the lights, surprised me. I would happily fit them again, except that they are fairly pricey.
I heard that the reason for the differnt brands was that Conti's were going from sportcontact 2 to sportcontact 3 version, so they fitted other brands.

Now have Yoki V103s and am quite happy so far.

I originally had the Bridgestone RE50s which were excellent, then changed over to Dunlop Sports and there is a huge difference. The Dunlops should not be fitted to a FWD car as powerful as GTI - as soon as they are wasted even a little bit they are going off for RE50s again - worth the price diff.

Contis here on the GTI.

Can't compare them to anything else, but they seem to do a decent enough job (although traction is a finer art).

I can't beleive you've been sooo patient Tim. If i were you, i would be calling the dealer everyday to ask "is it here yet??"

Well the main reason i bought it was cos the old vr6 is starting to get a bit long in the tooth and in need of some TLC. I figured if she was gonna be retired from daily duties then it would have to be with something moderately interesting.
So yeah. Im not desperate for it. still looking forward to it very much though! Its probly only a week to go now.
