  • Oil in intake pipe

Is this normal? Changing my stock filter had a look in the pipe and indeed there is oil along the wall of the pipes. It's a 1.4 TSI Golf GT.

Afraid so. The oil blowby has to be sent somewhere, and in a turbo car, that is before the turbo, after the aircleaner. The only way to reduce it is to fit a oil catch can, to trap more of the oil before it gets ingested. Do a search on catch cans, or ask away, plenty of people run them for various reasons.

Excellent, thanks Greg. For a bit there I thought something bad was stirring up, but now I'm glad to know that it's a normal thing!

Will definitely look into catch cans now.

      Cheers
