Got a 06 Jetta TFSI which sounds the high pitched alarm at times when I get out of the car. Noticed only last night that on of the headlights and brake lights remained on. The alarm only goes on once every week or so. HAve tried to turn it off to no avail. Any ideas?

I see this on the police cars in the city all the time.
Basically if you turn the car off with the indicator still on it will leave the light on a low output to warn other motorists that you have parked (usually useful in foggy/snowy areas).
Happy to be proven wrong.Last edited by team_v; 30-09-2011, 08:16 AM.

I dont believe you need to have auto lights on Clay. But yeh if the indicator is left in depending which direction determines which sides parkers are left on.Current: 2017 Passat 206TFSI R-Line

Yep its your indicator which has been left on, its only really useful if your parked in a blind spot or its poor visibility. Ive had the feature on my last 3 cars and dont think ive ever needed to use it.
