  • Jetta 147TSI Tyres and pressure warning

Just wondering if anyone has had any trouble with the tyre pressure warning in the Jetta/Golf.

I've had two flats now that it hasn't warned be about and have had false warnings coming up lately where I've checked and the tyre pressure has been fine. I reset the monitor when I put air in.

Leading on from there I have received quotes for new tyres as the flat is non-repairable. The stock Bridgestone RE050A have been discontinued.

Can anyone recommend from experience or otherwise for 225/40 R18 in:

    Yokohama C Drive
    Kumo KU31
    Falken ZE912?

Can't help you with the tyre pressure warning.
As for tyres, there are a fair few threads in the Mk5 and Mk6 golf forums. Check these out.
    But:
Kumho KU31 - most people say they are a good budget performance tyre
Yoko C-Drive - I had these on another car, they were good in wet & dry, but not as cheap as the others. You might be able to pick up a cheap set cause the C-Drive2's are likely to be out here soon (if they arn't already).
Falken ZE912 - I think the FK452's are the ones to get from Falken. Haven't heard many people say the 912's are much chop.

My monitor on my Jetta hasn't played up much - think I've had 2 false alarms in the 4.5years I've had it.

I've just ordered 4x Goodyear Eagle F1 Asym 2s in 225/40R18 for my Jetta. Goodyear (until the end of the month i.e. this week) is doing a buy 3 get 1 free deal so saves you about 25% on normal costs for a set of four.

I had the falken's on my previous car (96 A4 1.8t) in 18's and they were great in the dry but found them to be pretty slippery in the wet.

Also we have the Ku31's on my partners Honda in 17's and they're actually quite a good tyre for the price, it does everything well. But her car is far from a performance car so not sure what they would be like on a turbo jetta.

          Price for the F1 Assy2's?

Not that this may happen for every tyre, but I got a quote for the 'pay for 3 get 4th tyre free' thing.
It ended up being more than a quote I got for buying 4 of the same tyre outright from another company.
