Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • I'm Finally on. RED DSG GTI in 3 weeks

I have just received confirmation that my RED 5 door DSG GTI will be delivered on the 28th september. It's a bit of a shock as I was origonally told that I would have to wait more than 3 months. 3 weeks from order to Delivery. I'll take that.
Have downsized from a Calais as I no longer need such big car but I didn't want a "small car".
Had a look at the other contenders especially the XR5 Focus, as it is a great looking car, but my wife thought it looked very cheap inside. Also no cruise control and the aircon is not climate controlled at all.
When we first sat in a golf, a base model one at that, the difference in class and quality stood out. She said straight away that she wanted a golf.
What sold me was the DSG transmission. Always lusted after the sequental shifts in the BMW M3 etc, as well as I do a fair bit of commuting in traffic. Best of both worlds.
Only options I picked was the Black leather seats and the Bluetooth car kit for my phone. I was told that I couldn't have both Bluetooth and Ipod adapter as there is only one aux port to use. Damn. At lease the MY08 models have MP3 CD stackers.
Catch up with you all later.

Are you SURE it's a MY08 car. There is a 'surplus' TR knocking around...

So, i took half day off on Friday to pick up my BMP GTI from the dealer. This is after a 4 month wait :frown: I walk into the dealership, i sign the papers etc, excited to meet my baby.. The dealer then takes me to the back where the car is parked.. He tries to hand me the keys but realises...

Congrat's on the car....you must drive DSG hard all the time or will bug you! It is adaptive and if your driving style alters often it will be frustrating as it trys to "re learn" your style. Drive it like you stole (or be boring all the time) and you'll love DSG.

Whoever told you you couldn't have bluetooth and iPod together is p...ing in your pocket. I have both, factory items, dealer fitted and they work!

            It that so!
The salesman I was talking to asked one of the head guys and he confirmed that it was one or the other.
I will have to have a quite word with him.
That is really annoying as all my lease arrangements have already been set in concrete and I can't change them.
Have to add it to the Bluefin, VAG_COM and Pioneer AVIC-HD3 that I am now saving up for.
Have to admit though that it seemed a bit on the expensive side.
            Is there any aftermarket kits?

There are a heap out there...have a search for some of the threads. There was a recent one titled "to ipod or not" (i think).
