  • R32 - DSG oil & Windscreen advise - advise please?

    Morning all,

I've had my R32 windscreen changed over the weekend by insurance.. had a chip which cracked the screen across the base of the windscreen.. Driving the car later that day.. I noticed that the light coming in is bright and hot.. and I believe the new glass is plain/ stock, not sure if this bothers me because I'm aware the glass has been changed or if I'm just paranoid..

The car has factory tint (but I cant remember if the windscreen had it as well..)
And I'm thinking if the windscreen had some kind of factory anti-glare..

The insurance covers the car for windscreen replacement if there's a chip/ crack, which is what I claimed.
Should this entitle me for an 1 for 1 replacement if I had tint?

    Would you complain? opinion please?

I wasn't able to find windscreen specs in the manual or google.. hoping someone here could educate me

    Also:

Whats a recommended DSG gearbox oil for the 60K service?

Mate I'm pretty sure that the windscreen is specially treated to reduce heat from entering the cab , the installer should of known ,he has more than likely installed an inferior windscreen,
But ring your nearest VW dealer and be armed with all the facts before you make a complaint , Look in your owners manual I'm sure there is a mention of it there.

The only option I know of is the vw supplied oil. The gearbox takes about $400 worth of oil...
MKV Golf 2.0 TDI DSG Sportline. Just nice.

Doing a DSG service, you should get the oil from VW or Imparts etc, it's not something you get from Supercheap. There's also a special tool for doing the filling. Google DSG service to find out all the details.

Yeap, I'm aware of the premium It just sparked a question as I was talking to my mechanic and he tells me that it would the same oil which he uses for Audi & Merc and I was thinking.. if the DSG oil was specific..!?

I appreciate the input guys Thank you

As a follow up, I had the gearbox oil change..
cost me around $480~ including labor. 6X1L of genuine VW DSG oil, 2hours of work.. dam cheap I'd say...
My mechanic ordered the oil the day before and bam! done!

I complained about the windscreen.. a bit funny.. the glass mob blames the insurance company saying that they ordered me the el-cheapo glass, talk to them... the insurance company blames the glass mob, that *THEY ALways install genuine glass on cars (BS I say..)... Then the glass mob kind of made it difficult for me.. but my car has sensors and the glass is required to be genuine!
Then I was approved to have a genuine screen by the powers that be at the insurance and glass mob a couple days later. Had the new VW glass installed & it makes all the difference!!

Couldn't believe how noticeably crap the el-chepo glass was.. with heat, the rain smudging, glare, vision...

            Thanks for the help guys..
I did receive a bit of bad news yesterday.. I noticed my Aircon unit wasn't regulating.. and apparently the Air con Control unit has given up on life... Pure bad luck the AirCon guy tells me... so Having it asssessed checking if the model can be purchased to replace.. otherwise I'm looking at buying a new unit

(should of extended that VW warrantee)...
