Wheel hanger for mark 5 golf

I was thinking about making up a wheel hanger , nothing worse than getting a flat in the dark and trying to line up the stud holes, all i need is some information on the thread type and ill buy a bolt about 15cm long,here is what I'm thinking about .

I have made a few of those, just cut off the bolt head and ground it smooth.

Why not just buy the proper one from VW spare parts for around $12?
