I had the headlining replaced in my 06 Jetta TSI today after it started to pull away from the A & B pillars and rear interior light. It was very fiddly for the motor trimmer especially reconnecting all the interior lights! I am concerened though that when the trimmer pulled away the headlining frame, he discovered flat cardboard boxes stuck directly to the inside of the metal roof. Obviously somebody had tried to repair the headlining before.
Of more concern to me is that the trimmer thought there ought to be a roof brace running across the width of the roof - there seems to be a fixture either side of the roof for this. Now I don't know why, if there is supposed to be one, where its gone but does anyone know whether there is supposed to be roof brace across the middle width of a Mk5 Jetta? I've tried to find a diagram on the Net of the cars structure but can't track one down.
The cardboard and the possible missing roof brace has got me spooked - maybe an accident repair not done right? I have owned the car for just a month.
