Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • What is this plastic bracket for?

I have not long had our MY07 TDI and I cannot work out what the plastic bracket in the left hand side of the boot is for.
It is just behind the wheelarch and there is an adjustable strap there, but what for, I don't know.
Can anybody give me any clues please.
    cheers
    Dave

First aid kit or fire extinguisher... Also good for trapping in recalcitrant toddlers...

It actually holds the foldable warning triangle (which isn't included in Oz delivered cars). The strap that goes around the clamp is for the first aid kit.

Both items are available from ECSTuning.com

Thanks for the repies to my query guys. I must admit my first aid kit is way to big to put in there. I haven't got any triangles, but have a flouro vest in there just in case there is a situation where you have to change a wheel on the side of the road.
        cheers

Just to get it straight (being the pedantic person I am )...The plastic clamp is for the warning triangle, the strap is for the VW first aid kit.

Used the strap for the first aid kit and put the Triangle from my 4-Mo in the right side storage.
What I cannot work out is where the cargo net clips are on the rear sides of the boot. I can find the two ringss on the boot lip side but no sign of the ones on the side

I'm a newbie and I have just discovered a strap on the left hand side top of the boot which when I pull down on it a couple of plastic hooks appear which I think are for shopping bags. How cool! (sorry for getting excited over such a little thing!).

Would they be the hooks that are on each corner tucked away underneath the shelf?

Jetta's don't have them. There's a diagram in the manual specifically depicting where they should be, but we lose out on that feature

i've used a couple of cable ties through those under shelf clips to hold a spare ("golf"... da dum) umbrella. easy to unhook when needed and doesn't bump and roll around in boot.
