GTi steering wheel in Jetta?

Sorry if this has been covered before, searching didn't seem to help...

I've got a 118TSI Jetta (MY10) and I'm interested in swapping the steering wheel for one out of a GTi. This isn't out of any desire to make my car a fully sick high performance machine, purely because I find them so much more comfortable.

Considering that the controls for the audio and MFD appear to be the same, would there be any issues with the swap? I'm thinking in terms of airbags etc... I must admit I'm not very tech-savvy when it comes to these things.

Has anyone done this? If so, where'd you source the wheel? Wrecker?

It shouldn't be an issue as long as you get one that suits your car. i.e. DSG with flappy paddles or manual w/o paddles.

You can buy new ones from ECS Tuning or TMTuning but they are about $650 w/o airbag.

absolutely can be done. I've got the R32 steering wheel on my Jetta.
FYI i suggest you get the pros to install it, as the airbag is hooked in

oh you can also swap the MK6 steering wheel in too

I bought mine from eBay Germany, used babel fish translator to understand the add. I actually have a DSG version on my manual, so I just have the rear cutouts which are no problem really. If you get one with similar buttons hooking them up should be easy, if not you will have to work out the wiring. Piece of cake to install yourself, airbag is just a plug, all the same I was very careful doing that part, didn't want a bag to the face! The only hassle is the central Allen bolt is a special size, and I had to grind a metric allen key down a bit to get it off, but it's been near three years and counting.
