  • GTI different AIR INTAKES in fron bumper

    Hi Guys,

I have seen on the net that some Golf V Gti have 2 large air intakes in the honeycomb front bumper.

Do you know if this is an optional extra?

    See attached pic.

I think its to do with DSG/manual and airflow.

Yes the vents are for the cooling on the DSG box and in my opinion look better than the blanks on the Manual version. lol cheap visual enhancement

Only on the early DSGs though! And the ones we got in Oz only had one of them . I actually ordered mine and got them genuine before I got my car! Only the very early Euro DSGs had both vented ones. Definately a better look. From memory I think they were around $35 each. If I can find the paperwork from 05 then I will be able to supply the part numbers.
                  Cheers, Andrew

Can you still get them installed - and how much?

If it's for cooling the DSG box, anyone know why they blocked it again?
Cos, i had a look at my car with DSG - def blocked.Maybe to stop dirt and bugs getting in??

Also, has anyone got them installed after purchase, if yes, how much.

                    Thanks,

I think you can buy them off this mob but it's a bit more expensive than $35.

i'd be interested too if you could still get them for that price.

I had one of the first GTI's in 2005 and I have em. I would be interested to know how much they work on cooling the gearbox because it runs as hot as the sun.

Have also wondered the reason as to why DSG runs so hot, anyone know?

(Hard to see in this pic, but best I have)

i would assume they made some changes somewhere else for cooling so they only needed one type of front grille. Easier to manufacture perhaps?
