  • milky oil under oil filler cap

Yay... I have milky oil under my oil filler cap.

No... not worried, no smoke, no coolant loss, no sign of water on dipstick. Just looks to be the typical behaviour of these engines when doing short trips in winter.

    2 questions...

    1. whats the easiest way to get rid of it? drive hard? if so, how long for? how hard?

    2. what causes it? i know its condensation, but where does the condensation come from? i've heard its likely condensation from the intercooler, blowing by the piston rings.... but how does it find its way into the oil?

Its frustrating when you're trying to sell the car but a know-it-all mechanic wannabe writes the car off as having done a gasket (it hasnt, serviced just a few weeks ago).

Take it for a good long drive, should clear that up.

Agreed , short trips engine not getting to operating temp long enough, get out and clear its lungs mate, would only be condensation
