  • exhaust emission warning light

On Sunday i got a warning light.... Took it to VW, Osborne Park in Perth to diagnose the problem.
Problem has been diagnosed and throttle flap has failed and one of the radiator fans is failing.
To repair the flap , $917.00 and to repair the fan $599.00.
Damn expensive but I am enjoying driving it still. Next year I am going to trade it in for something else, not sure what yet.
My wife I want another kid. Golf is getting a little bit too small for 2 baby seats.

Check online for parts.. and I'm sure there are indepandant Audi/VW specialists in Perth. The whole thing will cost you nearly half if you have time to shop around. Dont take it to the stealership unless its covered under warantee.

Wow thats a dear throttle, ive done a few, anyway just as an exercise when the engine light comes on and the throttle is playing up it actually blows fuse 14 which is the fan fuse. Although ive done a couple , one i did lately only needed a new battery, it was failing. The Butterfly fault has never came back. To conclude check the battery, and if ok then yeah the throttle probably is going bad, but check it isnt doing the fuse 14 at the same time. Seperate to that the small rad fans are common on these

I will check the fuse tomorrow... easy enough.
As for failing throttle flap that's what they quoted, and I know what it is but I need instructions as to how to replace the fan. Looked this afternoon and could not see any screws or wires.
Any ideas where I can get some instructions
          pity you're in Brisvegas

Do you mean a throttle body?? that can be an easy change if your not that experienced but it will require a basic setting after it's changed. But if you have been quoted the manifold intake flaps i suggest you take it to a person who has experience as this requires complete manifold removal...not easy!!!
