  • Jetta boot problem

Anybody own a jetta and have trouble closing their boot? I sometimes need to try 5-10 times to keep my boot closed or need to use the key to manually lock it to make it stay down. Very frustrating problem and was wondering if it is a known/common problem? Also how much u guys reckon for a new latch?

Had some panel work done on our Jetta recently and when it came back from the shop we had trouble closing the boot, similar to what you've described. Turned out the boot seal was not put back on properly, when this was pushed back into place the boot closes fine again! Try that first may save you some $$$

My boot seal seems to be ok. Have read elsewhere that the mechanism in the latch seems to fail during colder months. Also something to do with the spring inside as well.

Yeah I know what you're talking about, both of my Jetta's have required a bit of extra force/2-3 attempts to close the boot succesfully.
